Madison Gas and Electric's (MGE) newest DC fast charger for electric vehicles (EVs) is available at the Dane County Regional Airport. The station—located in the cell phone parking lot—is part of MGE’s public charging network of more than 40 stations.
MGE now has five public DC fast charging stations conveniently located throughout the Madison area. They can provide 60 to 80 miles of range in about 20 minutes to keep any EV driver on the go.
In addition to growing local solar through an innovative partnership with Dane County, MGE is working with the County to promote the use of EVs and to facilitate additional charging options.
“Our partnership with MGE to make it more convenient for electric vehicle drivers to charge their cars at the Dane County Regional Airport will help reduce climate change emissions,” said Dane County Executive Joe Parisi. “MGE’s investment in this new public charging station is an important link in the EV charging network throughout the county.”
Transportation accounts for 28 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. The electrification of transportation is considered a key strategy for reducing carbon emissions. MGE has a goal of net-zero carbon electricity for its customers by 2050.
